About Event

Join The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Land and Food Systems' Young Alumni Council at Beaver Lake in Stanley Park on Saturday July 18th, 2026 from 1:30pm-3:30pm where attendees will explore the ecological history of this unique urban wetland while learning about biodiversity conservation and climate change.

Guided by UBC LFS alum Julia Taylor, BSc (Global Resource Systems), of Stanley Park Ecology, participants will take part in hands-on citizen science activities and will document local wildlife to support scientific research using iNaturalist. Through guided discussion, field observation, and collaborative learning, attendees will gain practical skills for contributing to conservation efforts and will learn how to get involved in environmental stewardship and sustainability careers.
