About Event

The EU ETS is evolving, the CBAM is kicking in, free allowances are being phased out — what does this actually mean for businesses and industrial transition in Europe?

Arthur Willemaers, PhD researcher at HEC Liège and the TREE research lab (Université de Pau), will break down the mechanics of the European carbon market and where it's headed. His research focuses on the economic impacts of industrial decarbonization in Europe, exploring the strategic trade-offs between emission caps, competitiveness, and investment.

On the agenda: how the carbon price drives (or fails to drive) industrial decisions, what the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) changes for European industry, and the challenges that remain for the carbon market to deliver on its climate promises.
