About Event

About the Event

Go behind the scenes of Politecnico di Torino’s student teams and discover the people, projects, and experiences behind some of the university’s most ambitious engineering initiatives.

As part of WAVE by Vento, this event brings together four student teams from the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET): PoliTOcean, Semito-V, Roboto, and PoliTEK.

Each team will give a 10–15 minute talk, sharing their own experience of working in a student team. From developing complex prototypes and applying cutting-edge technologies to managing projects, working in multidisciplinary groups, facing challenges, and developing skills that translate directly into the professional world, the talks will offer different perspectives on what it really means to be part of a university team.

The Teams

  • PoliTOcean is the underwater robotics student team of Politecnico di Torino. Founded in 2017, the team designs and develops underwater robotic systems and represents Politecnico di Torino and Italy at the international MATE ROV Competition in the United States, combining engineering, innovation, and teamwork to tackle real-world underwater challenges.

  • SemiTO-V is the student team of Politecnico di Torino dedicated to RISC-V and open-source hardware and software development. The team designs custom and open source processors, firmware, software, and PCBs, working across the entire development process, from computer architecture and circuit analysis to RTL design and low-level RISC-V programming.

  • RoboTO is the robotics student team of Politecnico di Torino that develops different types of robots, working across the entire process from mechanical and electronic design to programming, control, and artificial intelligence. Currently, RoboTO is developing DEMETRA, a robot for the international Field Robot Event (FRE), focused on autonomous navigation and detection in agricultural environments.

  • PoliTeK is a student team from Politecnico di Torino that brings engineering and technology into the world of music and sound. The team designs and builds electronic instruments, audio devices, pedals, synthesizer modules, speakers, and interactive installations, combining hardware, software, design, and creativity.

After the talks, attendees are invited to stay for an informal networking session to continue the conversation, meet the teams, and connect with fellow students, researchers, alumni, and professionals.
