COP31 Pre-Event: Getting Ready for Antalya
COP31 is taking place in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9–20 November 2026. Before the negotiations begin, join us in Helsinki for an introduction to COP31, a look at the key issues to watch, and a panel discussion exploring different perspectives on this year's climate conference.
Whether you're new to COP or have followed the UN climate negotiations for years, this event is an opportunity to get oriented, hear different perspectives and connect with others interested in international climate action.
What we'll cover
1. Introduction to COP31
What actually happens at a COP? Why do these negotiations matter, and what should we know going into COP31?
Bradlie Martz-Sigala will give us an introduction to the COP process and set the scene for this year's conference.
2. What to expect at COP31
What are the key issues and debates to follow in Antalya? What could be politically significant, and what should we be paying attention to during the negotiations?
Sarah Tolonen will take us through the key topics and developments to watch at COP31.
3. Panel: Perspectives on COP31
We'll then bring together different perspectives on the conference and its significance.
The panel will include a youth perspective from Hugo Wahalahti, alongside additional panelists who will be announced soon.
The discussion will explore questions such as:
* What are different actors hoping to see from COP31?
* Which issues deserve more attention?
* What does COP31 mean for young people and civil society?
* What would a meaningful outcome from Antalya look like?
* And perhaps most importantly: what should we be watching once the negotiations begin?
* Practical information
