Making the Most of Tech Transfer
Tech Transfer has become a hot topic recently. Research institutions and universities have accumulated a treasure trove of intellectual property representing cutting-edge technology across various industries. Licensing this technology can jumpstart product development and commercialization for a start-up. For established enterprises, tech transfer can catalyze a new business venture and generate incremental revenue.
Unfortunately, the process of technology transfer can be opaque. Locating suitable technologies is difficult. Structuring the right licensing agreement is challenging. Even after that is done, the work of actually commercializing the technology remains.
This unique Special Interest Group will provide transparency into the opportunities and potential pitfalls around tech transfer. We have assembled experts representing all parties in a typical arrangement - the IP holders, commercial operators and investors funding it. We also add legal perspective to reach the optimal deal structure.
This event's format will be a panel discussion covering the full process of tech transfer. We will explore the sources of technology, mechanics of licensing and realities of commercialization. Aspiring entrepreneurs and enterprise leaders will gain insights into capitalizing on IP that has already been developed.
What to expect
We will start with networking over drinks and light bites. Then a moderated panel will run for about an hour. We will leave time at the end for follow-up discussion and individual connections. Attendees can expect to learn about tech transfer from experts representing each of the parties in the process. You should come away with a game plan for identifying and leveraging available technology licensing opportunities.
