About Tokyo Fail Club
Tokyo Fail Club is a community where creative people share their real, vulnerable stories about failure. Our goal is to create a place where people can celebrate failure, and challenge ideas of what success looks like.
At each event, we gather with food and drinks to hear speakers tell stories from a time they experienced failure and lessons they learned through the experiences, before opening up to Q&A and open networking time.
Hope you join us at the next failure club!
「Tokyo Fail Club」

Speakers | スピーカーのプロフィール:
Emily Kamata
Emily Kamata is a Japanese–English communication strategist and founder of Gold Speak Inc., based in Tokyo.
After a major career move that led to a six-figure role at a global company, Emily experienced an unexpected and devastating dismissal. She will share how that moment challenged her own identity and ultimately led her to reclaim her voice and her work as an interpreter.
Katie Kelly
Katie Kelly is a B2B Marketing & PR Consultant. She also works on several creative side quests, such as "The Luckiest Museum in the World," a pop-up exhibition coming to Tokyo in March 2026. And NoWankyBollocks.com, where she interviews marketing folk about their craziest work experiences and calls out industry bullshit.
As a fresh-faced graduate a mere 17 years ago, Katie's interview at a global marketing agency would go down as one of the most embarrassing and disastrous experiences of her career. A story involving Bonnie Tyler, candles, and confetti, Katie will share an unforgettable lesson about the importance of understanding audiences, going beyond assumptions, and resilience.
Ji Hyun Kim
Ji Hyun Kim is a designer building ScanMyPills, an app that helps caregivers for seniors avoid medication mistakes by identifying harmful interactions and duplication between medicines.
Ji moved to Japan to pursue his first startup, HiDozo, which stalled during COVID. After spending years waiting on co-founders and chasing the “right timing,” he ultimately found himself starting over from zero. At Fail Club, Ji will share the lessons he learned about failure, identity loss, and realignment.
