7th Africa Continental World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) - Hosted by Tanzania
The United Republic of Tanzania, is hosting the 7th Africa Continental World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) (16th-24th November 2025) in Dar es Salaam,Tanzania
The conference will be held in hybrid mode (physical venue in Dar es Salaam with virtual access via Zoom or similar platforms) to accommodate up to 500 participants (250 physical, 250 virtual), including scientists, policymakers, youth innovators, and representatives from the Africa Quadripartite (FAO, WHO, UNEP, WOAH), capacity-building projects, civil society, and private sector amongst others.
Expected outcomes include policy recommendations, a proceedings report, and strengthened networks to accelerate AMR National Action Plans (NAPs) implementation.
The conference will provide a dedicated platform for scientific exchange, complementing high-level openings (Day 3), project showcases (Day 5) and field visits (Day 6). The 2-day format ensures focused, high-impact sessions without overlapping core WAAW events. It will build on youth engagement (Day 2) and policy roundtables (Day 3) by incorporating young researchers and evidence to inform NAP acceleration. Keynotes will be featured in the agenda to provide high-level insights from leading experts, setting the tone for each day and reinforcing the conference's emphasis on actionable science.
