About Event

This is a Metagov Community Call where we will discuss the recent Slack AI rollout (i.e. understand what features are available and discuss what enabling the tool actually means for our data, privacy, etc.).

Then, we will compare Slack AI (and generally corporate AI) architectures with Metagov's KOI project. We will have a couple of researchers and developers from the KOI team there to share updates on the KOI project from the past year and present the architecture of KOI (and key differences between KOI and corporate AI systems).

Some specific points we might discuss/ compare include:

  • How is data and privacy treated differently?

  • What if a community could control what AI models are used for in a digital community environment? What would we want AI for here in Metagov?

  • How is consent and participation being managed in each system?

Even though it's early in its development, KOI presents an alternative architecture for community-governed AI. Let's discuss! And perhaps even help show our support for the KOI project.

About Community Calls: Metagov Community Calls are informal discussion-based, peer-learning, or tool play-test calls that can be proposed, hosted, and facilitated by any member of the Metagov community.

The format may vary according to whether the call is a group discussion or a tool play-test; however, a standard format might entail a ~10 minute introduction to the topic by the host followed by the group discussion (based on 3-5 questions prepared by the host) or play-test experience.
