About Event

Explore a modern take on an ancient artform! Learn the fundamentals of chainmail in this beginner-friendly workshop. You will learn a variety of basic chainmail weaves and combine them with beads to create one-of-a-kind keychains and bag charms. The techniques learned in this class can be applied to larger chainmail pieces like necklaces and garments.

All tools and materials are provided and no prior experience is necessary.

About your Instructor

Avee (she/they) (@junkmail_jewelry) is a Seattle-based artist whose work combines flameworked glass and stainless steel chainmail to create expressive, texturally-dynamic, playful jewelry with an edge. They primarily make necklaces, earrings/ear cuffs, and glasses chains. They also occasionally dabble in larger, more narrative-driven mixed-media sculptures questioning the significance of and adherence to societal norms and traditions.
