About Event

Join TRASAL’s Mercer Island Book Group as we discuss The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny by Kiran Desai.

In this sharp and moving novel, Kiran Desai explores love, migration, ambition, and belonging through the intertwined lives of Sonia and Sunny. Set across continents and cultures, the story traces how distance, family expectations, and the search for identity shape the choices we make and the people we become.

With her signature insight and lyrical storytelling, Desai captures the emotional landscapes of diaspora life, illuminating the tensions between intimacy and independence, tradition and reinvention.

Join us for an evening of thoughtful conversation as we explore this richly layered novel together.

Our book groups are open to all readers and centered on thoughtful, welcoming conversation.
