​As spooky season rolls around, we’re getting into the Halloween spirit by exploring the AI scaries — the risks, uncertainties and big questions about AI that keep us up at night.

​From deepfakes and online abuse to algorithmic bias, AI safety, job displacement, and the growing gap between innovation and regulation, there’s plenty to be spooked by. But how worried should we really be? And what can we do about it?

​🕸️ What to Expect 🕸️

• ​AI Scaries Icebreakers: We’ll kick things off with Halloween-inspired conversation starters about the AI risks, ethical dilemmas, and future scenarios that intrigue, unsettle, or keep us up at night. What are we genuinely worried about, and what do we think is overhyped?

• ​Networking: Expect plenty of time to mingle, meet fellow women in responsible tech, exchange ideas, and make new connections — all with a little Halloween spirit thrown in!

• ​Optional Costume Competition: Come dressed in theme — as your scariest AI ethics problem, AI villain, a dystopian future, or whatever else your imagination conjures up! We’ll vote for the best costume, with a prize for the winner. 🏆

​Do I need to work in responsible AI to attend?
Not at all! Our meet-ups are open to women and non-binary individuals working in, around, or simply curious about AI and technology. Whether you work in the field or are keen to learn more about responsible AI, ethics, and safety, you’re very welcome.

​Do I have to wear a costume?
Not at all! Costumes are encouraged but entirely optional. We’re simply embracing the Halloween spirit.

​Are food and drinks included?
Food and drinks will be available to purchase individually at the venue.

​What is the format?
Our meet-ups are informal and social, with themed conversations, opportunities to exchange ideas, and plenty of time to connect with others in the community.

​What if I can’t arrive at 6 PM or need to leave early?
No problem! Feel free to arrive whenever you can and stay for as long as you like. We know everyone has different schedules, so there’s no pressure to stay for the whole event.
