About Event

This panel shares the story behind one of Australia’s most determined community energy projects.

More than ten years ago, a small group of Goulburn locals began meeting around a kitchen table with the ambition to build their own clean energy project. What followed was a decade of patience, setbacks, volunteer effort and quiet persistence before the solar farm finally reached the construction phase.

Local Power: How a Community Built Its Own Solar Farm brings together representatives from the organisations involved for a candid conversation about how the project survived the long journey from idea to delivery.

The session will explore the governance, fundraising, community engagement, technical challenges and development milestones that shaped the project, and offer practical guidance for other regions considering a community-led approach to clean energy.

Ideal for councils, community groups, regional leaders, universities, energy advocates and anyone seeking practical insight into how community energy models work in practice.
