Connecting Climate Science to National Security Policy

​This roundtable will be a facilitated discussion on the need to invest in climate-informed national security policy and decision-making. As the climate crisis intensifies, cutting-edge science and technology are needed to prepare for current and future national security challenges effectively. This includes connecting climate scientists directly to national security policymakers, investing in diversified energy sources, and leveraging emerging technology to create resilience. Failure to account for climate and environmental changes will leave critical infrastructure, military operations, and humanitarian interventions vulnerable to extreme weather, resulting in worse outcomes and ballooning budgets. This roundtable will discuss the challenges and opportunities for integrating climate science and scientists into national security policy and analysis.
