Central London | LON9 CCCL — Claude Code Kata
Join a Claude Community Event, organized by local enthusiasts for everyone who loves building with Claude Code!
This one is for the non-developers.
If you use Claude every day and wish you had more control over it — this workshop is designed specifically for you. No coding background needed. No prior Claude Code experience required. Just curiosity and a laptop.
LON9 is a structured kata workshop. You'll work through a series of short, focused exercises — each one under 5 minutes — that teach you exactly how Claude Code works, from the ground up. By the end of the evening, you'll have done every single kata. Not watched someone else do them. Done them yourself.
This is the one CCCL event where 100% completion is the goal — not just attendance. After each kata, we check in with every person in the room to make sure no one is left behind before we move on. Everyone finishes together.
What you'll learn
How to read, edit, and create files using Claude Code
How to run git commands and commit your work
How to give Claude Code permanent project instructions
How to use plan mode to review before anything changes
How to search your codebase and explain changes
Each kata builds on the last.

Before you arrive — this part is important
Everyone must arrive with Claude Code installed and working. Setup on the night is not possible — the workshop starts at 18:30 and we won't have time.
You'll need:
A GitHub account with at least one repo
git installed on your machine
gh CLI (GitHub's command-line tool) installed and authenticated
VS Code (or your preferred editor)
Claude Code installed and authenticated with an API key
We know this is the hard part for non-developers. That's why we're running a pre-event online setup session before the 29th — so you can get everything working with help before you arrive.
Join the LON9 WhatsApp group now for setup help, the setup session details, and all event updates: https://chat.whatsapp.com/I7pI9cXqvVIJfJ2iI87aDG
Your approval is conditional on completing the setup. We confirm prerequisites with every registered guest before approving their spot. This ensures everyone in the room is ready to go from kata 1.
