Founder Deep Dive: Behind the Build
Most founder stories are told backwards — once the company exists, the difficult decisions worked out, and the mistakes have become good anecdotes.
Founder Deep Dive: Behind the Build is about everything that happened before that.
Join us in Málaga for an honest, practical conversation about how a business is actually built: where the original idea came from, which early assumptions turned out to be wrong, how the first customers were found, what nearly failed, when it became necessary to pivot, and which decisions ultimately shaped the company.
Rather than a traditional panel or inspirational founder talk, we’ll take one founder and one company and explore the journey from multiple angles.
What we'll explore
💡 The Beginning
Where did the opportunity come from? What did the founder believe at the start — and what turned out to be completely different?
🔎 The Reality Check
First customers, market validation, early traction, mistakes, experiments and pivots.
🏗️ The Build
How the business model, product and team evolved — and when funding and scaling entered the picture.
⚡ The Decisions
The defining moments: what nearly didn't work, the difficult calls behind the scenes, and what the founder would do differently today.
🛠️ From Story to Practice
We'll turn some of the lessons from the conversation into practical questions and exercises that you can apply to your own startup, business idea or next venture.
There will also be plenty of room for audience Q&A, honest discussion and networking with Málaga's entrepreneurial and tech community.
Who is it for?
Founders and aspiring founders, startup teams, professionals exploring entrepreneurship, innovation leaders, investors, mentors — and anyone curious about what really happens between “I have an idea” and “we built a company.”
No polished founder mythology. No generic success formulas.
Just the decisions, mistakes, experiments and turning points behind the build.
