About Event

Adapt, own your achievements and communicate your value

AI is changing fast. New tools, new roles, new expectations. It can feel like there’s always something else you should be learning, and someone else who’s already ahead.

But what about the experience, skills and perspective you already bring?

Adapting doesn’t have to mean starting from scratch. And as AI makes it easier to create polished content, CVs and personal brands, being able to recognise and talk about your actual achievements matters.

Whether you’re considering a new role, working towards a promotion or simply trying to feel more confident about what you bring, this evening is about articulating your value without overlooking how far you’ve already come.

Join this WAI Connect session for a career pivot story, a hands-on #IAmRemarkable workshop and conversations with people navigating similar questions.

🎤 Talk: Three AI Trade-Offs That Changed My Career & How I Build AI Today

by Jennifer Nacinelli | AI Data Program Manager, Acolad

JJennifer transitioned from Localisation Manager to AI Data Program Manager. She didn’t abandon her expertise. She built on it, adapting her knowledge of languages, cultures and delivery to solve new challenges in AI.

Drawing on a case study from her work at Acolad, Jennifer will share how multilingual AI data programmes are designed, scaled and evaluated, and why the quality of an AI system is often shaped long before the model is trained.

Through three trade-offs, she’ll explore:

  • Expertise vs. adaptability: how she recognised the value of her existing experience and developed the capabilities to move into AI.

  • Speed vs. quality: how decisions about collecting, labelling and checking data affect AI performance, and how teams balance growing volumes, delivery deadlines, costs and rigorous quality standards to build AI people can trust.

  • Automation vs. human collaboration: why human judgement, domain expertise and different perspectives remain essential.

Her story offers a starting point for a question many of us are asking: where could my experience take me next?

2. Interactive workshop: #IAmRemarkable

In the age of AI, your edge is rooted in your experience, expertise and perspective, and this workshop will help you recognise that value through your achievements and communicate it.

#IAmRemarkable is a global movement that helps people celebrate their achievements at work and beyond, while challenging the discomfort and social expectations around self-promotion.

In this interactive workshop, facilitated by Monishaa Mirchandani, you’ll reflect on your experiences, take part in an exercise and group discussion, plus practise putting your achievements into words.

Together, we’ll work on how to:

  • Understand what holds you back from talking about your accomplishments.

  • Identify achievements you might overlook or dismiss as “just doing my job”.

  • Build confidence in recognising and communicating your value consistently.
