About the exhibiton:
Contextualise
Four poems set in motion.
A thousand receipts. Four hundred and eighty prints. One banner.
Content has an intended context. The medium has another. Context is relative. Who consumes it, where it’s consumed and for how long, alters its meaning.
To set a written message in motion is to open it to interpretation. Whether it moves across a screen or between people, what was fixed becomes a matter of when you looked, and who carried it.
We live in an age where words are prompted, spewed, forgotten, reposted and re-contextualised in seconds. Speech is a right. Being understood is not.
Contextualise consists of four works that set messages in motion and ask what is understood, and what is only consumed.
