Yugawara Solstice Holiday Retreat
On December 21st, the Winter Solstice, Ultra Club takes over a private luxury onsen villa in Yugawara for a holiday overnight focused on good food, quiet atmosphere, and unforced conversation. Everything for the evening is prepared in advance so guests can settle in and enjoy a grounded rural retreat in one of Japan’s most overlooked towns. Included in the experience:
Food featuring local wild meat, fermented vegetables, and seasonal ingredients
Drinks including regional craft beer, raw kombucha, and ginger beer
Full access to a private villa with a sprawling Japanese garden and complete kitchen
A curated six person guest list

The evening will unfold at a comfortable and unhurried pace. We will cook together, share space, talk, and make relaxed use of the two onsens on the property. If energy allows, we may step into town for a glimpse of Yugawara’s quiet nightlife. Yugawara has a distinctive rhythm shaped by its location between mountains and sea, and with Matt’s six years of experience in the area, guests will gain insight into its history, character, regional quirks, and long term potential. The Winter Solstice gives this rural retreat an added depth, encouraging reflection, presence, and a sense of transition into the new season.
