Má Sài Gòn (Mère Saigon) de Khoa Lê

Documentaire. Québec. 2023. 99 min — V.O vietnamienne — S-T anglais

Synopsis

In Saigon, family culture holds on against all odds, even when the bonds between parents and children are broken. Through a mosaic of intimate portraits, Má Sài Gòn takes the perspective of LGBTQ+ communities to explore a deeply human search for love, acceptance, connection and belonging. The film is a love letter: a luminous and melancholic ode to a mother both unsettling and reassuring, and to a city as oppressive as it is liberating.
