In the late 1990s, eight-year-old Sasha moves to Vancouver Island with her Hungarian immigrant family. Amid the island’s forests and summer light, she begins to find her place with her brothers and new friends. But her eldest brother Jeremy’s troubling behavior puts the family under growing strain, and their parents face a difficult decision. Twenty years later, Sasha, now a filmmaker, returns to those childhood memories with a camera. Drawing on her own family’s experiences, writer-director Sophy Romvari’s debut feature explores grief, the gaps in memory, and the wish to understand the people closest to us.
