

AI Foundations
AI Foundations is a 4-session career training course offering a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence concepts and tools.
The cohort-based program equips participants with a foundational understanding of AI and the practical skills to apply AI tools across a range of domains. Upon completion, you will be able to explain core AI concepts, use common AI platforms, implement simple AI-driven solutions, and understand the ethical considerations shaping AI technology today.
The program consists of four sequential units:
Introduction to AI

Terminology: AI, machine learning, deep learning, neural networks
Common misconceptions about AI
Current AI landscape & adoption
Hands-on: intro to ChatGPT and other generative AI tools
AI Applications in the Workplace
Survey of AI use across business functions
Case studies
Cost-benefit analysis of AI implementation
Identifying opportunities in one’s own workflow
Hands-on: evaluate existing workflows for AI enhancement
Interacting with AI Systems
Best practices for prompt engineering
Understanding AI limitations & error handling
Data quality issues
Reviewing & refining AI outputs
Hands-on: crafting effective prompts for different use cases
AI Tools and Platforms
Overview of accessible AI tools for non-technical users
Tool demos tailored by department
Integration capabilities with existing systems
Vendor selection considerations
Hands-on: using AI assistants for routine tasks
Note: Each unit follows a standard 60-minute format: 30 minutes of lecture, 15 minutes of hands-on breakout activity, and 15 minutes of Q&A. Pre-assigned homework is completed prior to each session.
You'll leave knowing how to explain core AI concepts, work with the platforms shaping today's industries, build simple AI-driven solutions, and navigate the ethical questions that come with the technology.
No prior AI background required, just a readiness to learn by doing.
