​What Is It? 🗽

​The Citizen Circle is a new seed being planted at The Commons - a weekly supportive space for folks that have decided to explore and experiment with Active Citizenship in their own lives.

​First and foremost, the Citizen Circle is a place to meet and connect with others that are exploring their own versions of active citizenship. It is a safe place to connect, share each other's latest aspirations, thoughts and experiments, ask for ideas or support, and bring others along into your personal exploration whenever possible.

​The Citizen Circle is the seed of what can become an entire Citizen Guild, but the construction of a true Citizen Guild eco-system will be built by the members that join this circle over the next few months.

​Together, we'll look for ways to play with democracy though Policy, Advocacy, Volunteering, and Civic Discourse. Some members may be interested in exploring all of those avenues - some only one or two.

​Either way, this is the place to find comradery, a network, and even some friendly mutual accountability for your journey.

​​Weekly Structure 🗓️

​Though our weekly circle will change from week to week, it will be a 1.5hr conversation with two parts:

​1) Around the Circle - an opportunity for each Circle member to share their interests, questions, projects, and thoughts around their personal active citizenship.

​2) Citizen Discourse - a weekly topic for discussion around what it means to be a citizen, how we can activate our highest selves together, how we might choose to organize our society together. We'll also explore timely campaign and/or policy conversations together.

​​Who Should Join 👪

​People who want to go on a journey of engaging in some kind of Active Citizenship - whatever that means to them.

​You may already know how you want to engage with your community, or maybe you don't yet know but are committed to experimenting with getting involved as an active citizen. Either way, this is the place for you.

​The circle is all about active collaboration - this circle is an opportunity to come build and add to the culture here at The Commons through sharing your energy, presence, skills, ideas, thoughts, voice, and network.

​Commitment Level 🗓️

​Member's joining the Citizen Circle should be prepared to engage with the group at least once weekly in our slack channel, and be able to join in person at least 75% of the weeks.
