🌟 Theme: "Meet the Vibes, Beyond the Vibes"
🔥 Meet the Vibes (Connect & Ignite Your Drive):
Feel the vibrant energy ("Vibes") of practitioners pushing the boundaries of AI. Connect with an inspiring community of developers and creators, witness real-world AI applications, and leave with the confidence and motivation to supercharge your daily workflow.
🚀 Beyond the Vibes (Engineering Rigor Beyond Vibe Coding): Natural-language prompting and rapid prototyping ("vibe coding") have become the baseline. But what comes next? Guided by Google Developer Experts (GDEs) and industry leaders, we dive into what truly lasts: production-grade architecture, autonomous Loop Engineering, code quality, observability, and robust software principles.

🟢 Supercharging AI Agents: External Integrations from Google Search/Maps & Agent Retrieval to Custom APIs and MCP
— by Kazunori Sato (Google Cloud / Developer Advocate) & Shotaro Ishihara (Google Cloud Japan / Developer Advocate)
[Abstract] The key to unlocking real-world value with AI agents lies in how effectively they connect to and leverage external services and data sources.
In this session, we explore the end-to-end architecture of real-time AI agents through practical examples and live demonstrations integrating Google Search, Google Maps (routing, search-along-route, street view), and enterprise data retrieval via Gemini Enterprise Agent Retrieval (formerly Vector Search 2.0) and RAG Engine.
Attendees will learn how to select the right external tools and data sources, implement reliable Tool use and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration, ensure factuality and grounded answers with citations when integrating agents into production services. We also examine how the right approach depends on the quality and volume of your information sources: sophisticated designs such as graph-based retrieval are not always the best answer, and a simpler setup is often sufficient at smaller data scales. Drawing on a production LLM-wiki-like system, we share practical criteria for judging when an AI agent — and how much retrieval machinery — is actually needed.

🔵 Beyond Vibe Coding! Hands-on Development with "Gemini Notebook × AI Studio" from a Google Expert
— Haren Bhandari (Google Cloud Japan / Developer Relations Engineer)
In this session, we will design rock-solid specifications (requirement definitions) with Gemini Notebook to create a solid foundation and the source of truth. Based on this blueprint, you will create apps using Google AI Studio. We will also cover practical approaches to handling change in specifications and maintaining the specification document to make sure the spec document represents true source of truth.
🌏 GDG Shibuya Collaboration & English Sessions
This year, GDG Tokyo and GDG Shibuya are collaborating on DevFest Tokyo 2026 to make the event more accessible to both Japanese- and English-speaking communities.
The program will include English-language sessions alongside Japanese sessions, with at least two sessions currently planned in English. We’re also considering language support such as captioning and transcription to help participants enjoy sessions across languages.
Whether you’re part of Tokyo’s Japanese-speaking tech community or looking for opportunities to connect and learn in English, we’d love to welcome you to DevFest Tokyo 2026!
