Speculative futures social
About the event
Curious about the future? Like talking about big ideas, unexpected possibilities, and how design shapes the world?
Join us for Speculative Futures Social — a casual hang for people who enjoy imagining what the future could look like and meeting others who think that way too.
We’re meeting at Southern Pacific Brewing to grab food, drinks, and have thoughtful, imaginative, and sometimes delightfully strange conversations about design, society, technology, and emerging futures.
This is a relaxed, community-focused meetup — not a formal event or workshop. Just good people and good conversation.
❓ What to expect
• Casual social gathering
• Meet like-minded and curious people
• Open-ended conversations about design and the future
• Opportunity to join our private WhatsApp community
• Food and drinks are available for purchase from the venue (not included with registration)
The venue is public and can get lively, but we’ll do our best to help people find each other and connect.
🧠 What is Speculative Futures?
Speculative Futures is a way of thinking about the future that explores what could be, not just what is likely to happen. It’s about imagining different possibilities, questioning assumptions, and considering alternative scenarios — often to inspire new ideas, provoke reflection, or guide decision-making today.
It’s less about predicting the future and more about exploring possibilities. People in design, strategy, technology, and art use it to:
Think critically about how systems, culture, and technology might evolve
Challenge assumptions about how the world “should” work
Spark creativity and generate bold ideas
Explore the social, ethical, and human impacts of emerging trends
You don’t need prior experience — curiosity and a willingness to imagine “what if?” is enough.
