Following breakfast, a series of hands-on workshops will take place simultaneously, exploring sustainability, archiving, design, craft, and co-creation through different creative practices and approaches.
Workshop Details
Workshop 1: Hands in Clay: A Ceramics Workshop
A hands-on introduction to ceramic hand-building for beginners. Learn basic pinching, coiling, and slab techniques while creating one to two pieces inspired by Beirut’s heritage or the Mediterranean sea. No wheel or prior experience required.
Workshop 2: Architecture on the Table
Explore the connection between Lebanese architecture and cuisine by translating architectural forms, patterns, proportions, and colors into traditional food design. Participants will reinterpret familiar forms to create a new kibbeh slicing pattern or sambousek shape inspired by Lebanese architecture.
Workshop 3: Who gets to design the future?
A hands-on co-creation workshop where participants work in small groups on a live challenge rooted in Lebanon. Explore how bringing diverse voices and lived experiences into the process can build trust and shape shared futures. Open to creatives, social impact and culture practitioners, and anyone curious about collaborative approaches. No design background required.
Workshop 4: WHAT SURVIVES? A fast-paced cultural experiment about memory, creativity and the future
A playful exploration of how culture, memory, and heritage survive through time. Participants decode cultural fragments, explore how knowledge changes as it is passed on, and work in teams to transform source material into an imagined contemporary creative project. The session ends with a pitch from the year 2126 defending why their creation deserves to survive. No prior knowledge required.
Workshop 5: Check In with Beirut
A two-hour participatory collage workshop exploring individual expression, collective creativity, sharing, and communication. Participants begin with personal expression before gradually bringing their ideas together to create collectively.
Workshop 6: Pass It On | What we inherit, what we transform, what we leave behind.
A collaborative painting experiment exploring how heritage changes as it passes from one person to another. Participants paint a fragment of a shared environment, then pass their canvases through different hands to preserve, transform, and build upon what they inherit. The canvases are brought together at the end to create one shared lived environment.
