About Event

Imagine a future where nature’s ingenuity leads the way in reviving our waterways and coastlines.

In this transformative panel, convened by Olive Theodore, participants are invited into a radically hopeful conversation about regeneration—where marine debris is not waste, but a resource for healing.

This session brings together innovative voices and diverse expertise to discuss and showcase creative solutions for environmental restoration, including:

  • Oysters detoxifying polluted harbors

  • Kelp forests providing natural buffers against intensifying storms

  • Beeswax-based paints safeguarding wooden hulls sustainably

  • Mushrooms (mycoremediation) digesting diesel and contaminants along shorelines

Panelists will share pioneering examples in upcycled marine art, bio-design, and community-rooted aquaculture efforts that blend traditional wisdom with modern science. Interactive dialogue will highlight real-world projects: from hands-on shipyard restoration labs to thriving floating oyster gardens, all working toward revitalizing marine ecosystems, one living organism at a time.

Rooted in the belief that collaboration with nature yields the most lasting solutions, this session challenges attendees to rethink the possibilities of environmental stewardship. Attendees will leave inspired to participate in regeneration—envisioning healthier, more wondrous waters through creativity, tradition, and collective action.
