About Event

Join professors Susanna Zlotnikov and Arthur Sugden in a conversation exploring how AI-embedded products and services are reshaping how people think and create. This conversation will examine the critical role of thoughtful design practice in building these offerings and why understanding people is now more important than ever. You'll leave this conversation with practical insights on navigating this complex landscape.

There will be 30 minutes to hear from our co-hosts, and 15 minutes for Q&A.

Meet your co-hosts:

Arthur Sugden, Adjunct Professor Integrated Innovation Institute

Dr. Arthur Sugden is the Founder and CEO of Allref Inc, as well as an Adjunct Professor with III. He has worked for years at the intersection of real neural networks and artificial ones.

He received his PhD in Molecular Biology from Brown University in 2015. He spent the next four years working at Harvard University's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center combining Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence to understand how memories are formed and consolidated.

Since then, he has worked as a Machine Learning Engineer, CTO of the wearable-tech startup Behaivior, and now develops new AI strategies for connecting biomedical information at Allref.

Susanna Zlotnikov, Online Program Director & Assistant Teaching Professor

Susanna is a qualitative design researcher and educator with expertise in analyzing and designing for complex workflows. Much of her professional experience has centered on understanding where and how to implement new technology into highly regulated clinical care processes.

Currently, Susanna is an assistant teaching professor at the Integrated Innovation Institute and director of the iii Online Program at Carnegie Mellon University.

Over the last decade, she has taught diverse students various subjects such as Pilates, Hebrew, math, and design. At the Integrated Innovation Institute, Susanna teaches courses on harnessing service design frameworks and tools in innovation.

Susanna earned her Master’s degree in design from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design in 2015 and a BA in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011. With this background, Susanna is uniquely positioned to explore what shapes and impacts people’s needs and craft innovative strategies for them.
