About Event

Monday, August 3
6:30–8:30 PM
Lodgewell – Graeber House 📍

The Location: The Graeber House is a historic 1881 mansion hidden in plain sight in the middle of 6th street.

The Agenda:

6:30–7:00 PM
We’ll begin with a guided tour of the Graeber House led by Chareen Fisher, the home’s longtime steward.

7:00–7:30 PM
We’ll then gather for a presentation by Jesabel DC, a tech anthropologist, who will share a version of the keynote she debuted at this year’s SXSW:

The Future is Low-Tech: Lessons from the Early 2000s

In it, she asks: What would technology look like if it were designed for your nervous system instead of against it?

Through four artifacts from the early 2000s, Jésabel uncovers design lessons that have become increasingly rare, and explores how modern companies are putting those principles back into practice.

7:30–8:30 PM
Rather than ending with a traditional Q&A, we’ll break into small conversation groups throughout the house to explore the ideas together. Bring your perspective, stay curious, ask questions, and meet others who are thinking deeply about the future of technology.

Think less conference. More house party for people who love ideas.

What to Expect

✦ Early-2000's snacks

✦ 20-minute presentation

✦ Small living room conversations

• what we should bring forward into the future

Who's This For?

This gathering is intentionally small.

Most guests are being invited personally by the hosts, but we're opening up a handful of additional spots to meet a few more thoughtful people in Austin.

If you're someone who enjoys big ideas, thoughtful conversations, and leaving with more questions than answers, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply if this sounds like your kind of evening!
