Codebase Understanding w/ Cognition
As organizations adopt AI for software engineering, many teams are discovering that model quality alone is not enough. Large-scale engineering work—migrations, refactors, testing, and modernization—breaks down when AI systems and developers lack deep, accurate understanding of the existing codebase.
In this event, Cognition will present their journey from research origins to Devin and the Windsurf acquisition, and how these pieces come together to enable code-aware, AI-driven development. The session will focus on Cognition’s approach to codebase understanding, why it is foundational for reliable agentic workflows, and what this means in practice for enterprise teams operating in large, long-lived systems.
The evening will include a guided demo using a shared repository, walking through how Windsurf supports navigation, reasoning, and execution in a large codebase. Attendees will be invited to follow along using provided access, with an emphasis on how these capabilities fit into real engineering workflows.
This session is intended for CTOs, engineering leaders, and mid–senior engineers responsible for large or complex codebases who are evaluating practical approaches to AI-enabled software development.
