Open Source Summer Cohort (Google Summer of Code+) via Orthogonal Lab
This is the kickoff session for the Open Source Summer Cohort, a collaborative community bringing together Google Summer of Code contributors from DevoWorm (an OpenWorm Foundation working group) and Orthogonal Research and Education Laboratory (OREL), with professional development support from JOPRO.
The cohort runs alongside GSoC's official timeline through the summer, and adds a layer of structured programming around professional development, project management, data ethics, and open science practice. Whether you're a first-time contributor or returning to open source, you'll find peers and mentors here.
Mentors and advisors include:
Dr. Bradly Alicea, Director of Orthogonal Research and Education Laboratory
Sarrah Bastawala and Mehul Arora, past GSoC contributors
Morgan Hough, Senior Mentor & Advisor
Jes Parent, Senior Professional Development Mentor & DxD Director
The cohort also will host visitors from JOPRO's Data x Direction program, and will feature discussions from members of the DigiNEST program and others across the broader JOPRO network.
Who this is for
This kickoff is open to members of OREL, DevoWorm/OpenWorm, and JOPRO, as well as the general public. We are currently in the community bonding period, and this is a great time to get oriented, meet your cohort, and ask questions.
To attend, register here on Luma. The meeting link will be sent to approved registrants.
