​Stories of the Soul takes viewers behind the velvet rope, revealing the foundations of Soul Train and SOLAR Records, while uncovering the untold legacy of Chuck Johnson—one of the most influential yet often overlooked pioneers of the era. The documentary explores how Johnson helped guide the careers of legendary SOLAR Records artists, including Shalamar, Midnight Star, and The Boys, while also overseeing the creation and production of the iconic Soul Train Line that forever changed music, dance, and television history.

More than a music documentary, Stories of the Soul is a celebration of Black creativity, cultural innovation, and the enduring legacy of those whose vision helped shape generations.

Prior to the screening, guests are invited to an engaging panel discussion featuring original Soul Train dancers, the film’s director, fellow filmmakers, and special guests who will share behind-the-scenes stories, historical insight, and personal reflections on the lasting cultural impact of Soul Train, SOLAR Records, and the people who brought this extraordinary era to life.
