Description:
South Park Commons India is thrilled to host Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla — India's first astronaut to visit the International Space Station — for an intimate Minus One conversation with SPC Generral Partner Aditya Agarwal
In June 2025, Shubhanshu piloted SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft to the ISS as part of Axiom Mission 4, spending 18 days conducting over 60 experiments in microgravity across biomedical research, material science, and space agriculture. He returned to Earth a national hero, and was awarded the Ashok Chakra — India's highest peacetime gallantry honour — on Republic Day 2026, becoming only the second Indian astronaut (after Rakesh Sharma) to receive it.
But before all of that, he was in his own version of -1 to 0: a fighter pilot with 2,000+ hours across Su-30s, MiG-21s, and MiG-29s, who got a call from ISRO in 2019 and said yes to a path with no playbook. Years of gruelling training at Star City in Moscow, selection as the prime astronaut for Gaganyaan, and an eventual mission profile that didn't exist when he started.
This is a conversation about operating at the edge — of capability, of national ambition, and of what's physically possible. We'll dig into:
→ The mental model for committing to a mission years before it's real → What training for space actually looks like — and what it teaches you about preparation vs. improvisation → Conducting science experiments 400 km above Earth on a tight clock → India's human spaceflight future — Gaganyaan and beyond → Lessons from the cockpit and the cosmos for builders taking on hard problems
Whether you're building rockets, biotech, defence tech, or your first company — this is a rare chance to hear from someone who bet everything on an audacious goal and made it to orbit.
Who should attend: Students, Founders, engineers, researchers, and operators, who are drawn to hard problems, frontier technology, and the -1 to 0 journey.
Registration and approval are required, and space is limited.
Please RSVP soon.
