Governing AI Together: Rights, Risk and Multistakeholder Leadership
On 12 October at 17:00 CEST, we will have the pleasure of hosting a conversation with Elonnai Hickok, Managing Director of the Global Network Initiative, on how multistakeholder approaches can help shape AI governance while addressing questions of risk, accountability, privacy and freedom of expression.
Elonnai works at the intersection of digital rights, emerging technologies and international policy. As Managing Director of the Global Network Initiative, she works to strengthen a multistakeholder organisation bringing together different actors around the advancement of freedom of expression and privacy. Her work has addressed privacy, cybersecurity, surveillance, intermediary liability and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
The session, “Governing AI Together: Rights, Risk and Multistakeholder Leadership,” is part of AI, Society and Systems at the Edge of Change, a webinar series exploring how AI is transforming sectors, systems and institutions, and how we can make use of its potential while developing the governance needed to manage its risks.
We will explore what effective multistakeholder AI governance can look like in practice, how risk assessments can help identify broader societal impacts, how governments can address safety and cybersecurity concerns while protecting privacy and freedom of expression, and what lessons from company-level and national governance approaches could help inform the development of international AI governance.
