About Event

Power shapes every workplace, often in ways that are subtle, unspoken and difficult to navigate. In this conversation, one of the BLSC board directors will explore how power operates within organizations and how professionals can leverage it.

This session will unpack:

  • The mechanics of workplace influence, examining both visible and hidden sources of power that shape decision-making, opportunity and advancement.

  • The five major types of power and their particular relevance for Black professionals navigating corporate environments.

  • A practical framework for identifying and managing stakeholders based on their influence, helping attendees think more strategically about relationships, alignment and advocacy at work.

We’ll explore the complex interplay between culture, politics, and power; offering insights on how to move thoughtfully and effectively within organizational systems.

Whether you’re early in your career or already in leadership, this session will offer perspective on how power works and how to engage with it more intentionally.
