Co-work Fridays @ SQCo - The Stage: What is Jev? A practical intro to decision models
The Stage @ 1.30pm
Title: What is Jev? A practical intro to decision models
Speaker: Gang Rui
You've heard the hype around Jev. This is a short, practical sharing on what it is, how it differs from large language models, and when to use it.
Jev (from TypeSafe AI) is a decision model, not a chat model. You give it some state and ask bounded questions. It returns typed probabilities instead of prose: yes/no confidence, a choice among options, or a score on a scale you define. That puts it between brittle rules and a full LLM: fast and cheap for repeated semantic judgments like routing, tagging, filtering, and reranking.
What we'll cover
What Jev is
How it differs from existing LLMs
When to use it
What it does well, and why that's useful
A few short demos
Who should join Builders, PMs, and anyone wiring AI into products who wants a clearer mental model before trying Jev. No deep ML background needed.
Format Short talk + demos + Q&A.
After the session, we go back to work.
Friday is our open co-working day. People come to work on their own projects, take breaks together, and usually stay through the afternoon. It's quiet, focused, and builder- and founder-led.
You can arrive anytime from 10AM. Most people show up after lunch and settle in before 1.30pm. Bring your laptop. Grab any open seat. Stay as long as you like.
At 1.30pm, we pause work briefly for a shared session called The Stage, then everyone goes back to working.
This is how Fridays here work.
