IN PERSON: Ombie's 101 Podcast Workshop
Are you an artist, writer, poet, audio enthusiast or overall creative who have been thinking about an audio project?
There is a lot of podcast information out there and it could get confusing. Let me help! My name is Cin and I have been working in the audio industry for a long time (over ten years) and this is the best time to dive into audio work.
In this session, you will get a walk through on how to start a podcast, explain the different podcasts style, how to fund your audio work, best practices to get started and sustain your work and how to use your own creative practice to create something new.
This session is hosted by Cinthia, the founder of Ombie Productions. Here is a little about me:
Cinthia Pimentel, also known as Cin, is a Black Latinx Bronx-born audio producer, multidisciplinary artist, and storyteller. Her practice spans writing, clay, collage, audio making, zines, community art, and teaching. She is one of the co-hosts and the senior producer of an award-winning podcast, Bag Ladiez. The podcast dismantles the notion of “politics is not for me” and creates a space to learn about the impact of harm within various communities and how we can create change within ourselves first to change the lives of others.Cinthia has also worked on many podcast series, including Natal, In Those Genes, Poetry Foundation’s VS podcast and among others. Cinthia's work has been featured in Vanity Fair, Teen Vogue, Shondaland, Autostraddle, Remezcla, and Marie Claire. Cinthia founded Ombie Productions, a creative production that uses elements of horror and experimental art to tell stories and explain theories that focus on Afro-futurism, science fiction, and feminism. She is currently working on an interactive audio series called Aombie and an interactive exhibit about Black women’s work experience.
