About Event

🥬Fermentation, Friendship, and Food Justice 🥬

Usher in the year of the cabbage with Basilica Bio! We are so excited to be hosting a gut health and food justice workshop with Firefly Kitchens! Join us for a hands-on evening exploring the connections between fermentation, microbiome health, and food justice.

We will kick off the meeting by hearing from Basilica Bio founder Jordan Jackson and Firefly Kitchens founder Julie O’Brien as they discuss the essential connections between eating delicious and affordable food and justice for King County. Then, we will be following Julie for a guided sauerkraut-making workshop, where you will learn how to make your own kraut! Then, we will share delicious recipes with you all, alongside endless food justice resources.

You will leave this event with:
✨Friendship
✨The power to make your own fermented delicacies
✨A side of sauerkraut
✨Recipes for using fermented foods on a budget
✨Zines on fermentation, food label literacy, and gut health

By building practical food skills, we strengthen community resilience and challenge inequitable food systems. We can’t wait to hear the conversations, steward the fermented skill building, and witness our cabbage-powered community on the evening of March 25th, details below:

Location: Firefly Kitchens (Ballard)
Date: Wednesday, March 25
Time: 6:30–8:00pm
RSVP required.

We can’t wait to see you there!
