

TMC-SG Community Night: Threat Models around the World
While the world converges on Singapore for Singapore's inaugurual DEFCON SG, we’re hosting a special, cosy evening that brings together security experts from around the world.
This time, we feature three speakers:
Dr. Yuichi Hattori, Ph.D (Japan). is the CEO of Secure Cycle, Inc. He began his career as a chief engineer at a startup, where he worked on web service development and conducted penetration testing. He later served as CTO of an information security firm before founding Secure Cycle, Inc. Alongside his professional work, he pursued advanced academic study and earned a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Kyushu Institute of Technology.
In addition to leading Secure Cycle, Dr. Hattori currently serves as a Director and CISO at Givery, Inc. He is deeply engaged in the cybersecurity community, holding leadership roles such as OWASP Fukuoka Chapter Leader, SecHack365 Trainer, and JNSA AI Security Working Group Leader. Actively involved in frontline security operations, he also delivers lectures and training sessions for companies and universities. Through both hands-on practice and outreach initiatives, he contributes significantly to the advancement of cybersecurity in Japan.
Zhassulan Zhussupov (Kazakhstan) is a cybersecurity enthusiast, author, speaker, and mathematician. He is the author of several widely recognized books, including MD MZ Malware Development Book (GitHub, 2022, 2024), MALWILD: Malware in the Wild (GitHub, 2023), Malware Development for Ethical Hackers (Packt, 2024), AIYA Mobile Malware Development Book (GitHub, 2025), and the forthcoming Malware Development for Ethical Hackers, 2nd Edition (Packt, 2026). In addition to his books, he serves as both an author and technical reviewer for Packt.
He has co-founded multiple cybersecurity research labs, contributed extensively to cybersecurity blogs, and writes for HVCK magazine. He is also a contributor to Malpedia. As a speaker, he has presented at major international conferences, such as Black Hat, DEF CON, Security BSides, the Arab Security Conference, Hack.lu, and Standof.
Desmond Cher (Singapore) is an Assistant Director with GovTech Singapore’s Cyber Security Group. With 15 years of ICT security experience in the public sector, he specializes in threat modelling, risk assessment, innovative security engineering, and governance.
A strong advocate for integrating threat modelling into risk assessments, Desmond led the development and rollout of a threat modelling workshop across the Singapore Government. He has also been instrumental in innovating threat modelling approaches and toolsets to help security architects and consultants conduct threat-based risk assessments more effectively. Desmond holds several industry-recognized certifications, including CISSP, CSSLP, CCSP, CRISC, and GIAC-GAWN.
