Artificial Intelligence is increasingly shaping how assistive systems perceive, interpret, and respond to human needs. In the field of Assistive Technologies, AI moves support systems beyond fixed tools toward adaptive, responsive, and personalized forms of assistance. From intelligent speech recognition and visual support systems to AI-driven communication and learning companions, new technologies increasingly respond to individual needs in real time.
This talk explores how Artificial Intelligence reshapes Assistive Technologies and opens new possibilities for inclusion in education and everyday life. At the same time, it addresses emerging challenges related to ethics, dependency, bias, and human–machine interaction. Rather than viewing assistive systems as specialized solutions for a few, the presentation discusses how AI may contribute to designing environments that support participation for all.
