About Event

One real EHR integration project, taken apart step by step.

Coordinators used to move patient data (PHI) by hand from the Epic EHR into a separate clinical decision support (CDS) web app. Clinicians then had to leave the EHR to see the recommendations. Binariks built the missing layer between the two: it picks up scheduling events in Epic, pulls the PHI the CDS engine needs, normalizes it and writes the recommendations back into Epic. Nobody has to re-enter anything by hand anymore.

In this session we follow that project from discovery through proof of concept to the MVP. Along the way, we look at a question your team may already be asking: should the integration be built in-house, by new hires or with a partner?

What we will cover:

  • The cost of disconnected systems and what interoperability brings to your business

  • Compliance as part of the architecture, not an afterthought: what HIPAA-compliant integration looks like in practice, and what changes when the connected product is Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) or a patient recruitment solution for CROs

  • What “getting into the EHR” actually involves in practice: the steps to a successful integration, common pitfalls and alternative interoperability paths

  • Build, hire or partner: an honest comparison of time, risk and effort for each path, with real stories from our projects

Who it is for:
CTOs, VPs of Engineering, founders and product leaders at healthtech companies whose product needs to connect to Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or other EHRs, and who don’t have deep interoperability expertise in-house.

After the session, attendees get a handout that expands on the build vs hire vs partner comparison and an invitation to a free 90-minute Integration Readiness Assessment for their own product.

Speaker:
Yuliia Shybko, HealthTech & Life Sciences Expert, Binariks
