Flyermaking 101
Flyers! A way we've been sharing information – without the internet! – for generations of party planners, organizers, local schemers, and hype people before us.
There are as many ways to make a "good flyer" as there are flyers in New Haven (don't try to do that math); this workshop isn't about perfecting this incredibly DIY practice, but adding a few skills and new practices to try out when making your next flyer.
Whether you're pumping out flyers weekly or just dreaming about an event you want to host someday soon, this time is for you.
Here's what we'll get up to together:
Get in touch with your taste! What flyers do you like and not like? Why? Beyond flyers, is there a general aesthetic you're drawn to in art/design/the universe? How might this be leveraged for flyers?
Learn a few practices to strengthen your flyermaking! These might range from aesthetic to accessible (i.e. font size on a print flyer) to DIY tricks to lay things out on paper in real life!
Make a flyer! using whatever your preferred method is – if you use a digital tool like Canva or Adobe something, bring a computer! If you want to make something with paper, we have materials for you!
Put up your flyer! Get some real world stapling practice with real world utility poles around us!
