About Event

Join us with Lo Sontag, as we examine how free parking, framed as a public good in reality represents a regressive subsidy that privileges car owners—disproportionately wealthier, male, and non-disabled individuals—at the expense of equitable urban space.

Parking reform is not just about traffic or emissions—it’s about justice. By interrogating free parking through feminist urbanism and political-economic critiques, this talk will:

  • Highlight how parking policy reinforces systemic inequities.

  • Provide advocates with intersectional arguments to counter "free parking" rhetoric.

  • Inspire bold reforms that recenter cities around people and the natural world, NOT cars.
