

Mindful Birth & Parenting Workshop
Enter birth and early parenthood with a greater sense of presence, awareness, and connection. Mindful Beginnings is a thoughtful, evidence-based workshop inspired by the Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) curriculum. Designed for expecting parents and their partners, this experience weaves together practical preparation with mindfulness practices to support you through the birthing process and beyond.

In this experience:
Learn the physiology of the body and mind during labor, deepening your understanding of what is happening with moment to moment awareness
Develop skills for approaching contractions with awareness during your birth and in daily life
Practice hands-on techniques for working with sensations of discomfort during the birthing
Practice mindful communication with partners, making space for fear and joy as they arise
Discover how presence can support breastfeeding, leading to optimal attachment
Learn how awareness of your baby's rhythm can support newborn care, improving confidence in parenting
Gain practical, midwife-informed strategies for asking the right questions, improving self advocacy throughout the labor process

About Your Host
Sasha Yamnik is a Certified Nurse Midwife with over 20 years of experience in clinical care in pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She currently attends births and trains the next generation of OB-GYN physicians and midwives at UCSF. She has completed a fellowship in integrative women’s psychiatry, deepening her clinical focus on perinatal mental health. Mindfulness is among the most evidence-based non-pharmacologic approaches for supporting perinatal mood disorders and is a foundational element of her work. For the past seven years, Sasha has integrated Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) into her practice. She is deeply passionate about supporting families in cultivating resilience, especially in the face of uncertainty or unexpected outcomes. Her work sits at the intersection of evidence-based medicine and holistic, patient-centered care, with a strong commitment to fostering a more intentional transition into parenthood.
