About the Event

The digital economy has lowered the barriers for women to enter markets, build businesses, access customers and receive digital payments. Yet access does not always translate into agency, scale or ownership. Many women-led businesses remain micro-enterprises, without access to the capital, market opportunities and capabilities needed to grow.

As part of Asia Impact House, this intimate high-tea session, “Market Access: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs for the Digital Economy,” will bring together senior leaders from philanthropic foundations, international funding organisations and institutions to explore what it takes to move women entrepreneurs from digital participation to enterprise growth and economic decision-making.

The discussion will examine how digital commerce, social commerce, digital payments and platform-based businesses are creating new opportunities for women, while also generating alternative signals of business credibility through transaction histories, customer behaviour and marketplace performance. The conversation will focus on how these insights can inform better-designed capital pathways for women-led businesses.

Bringing together funders and institutional decision-makers, the session will explore practical opportunities for partnerships and collaboration that can help women-owned businesses move from micro-enterprises to structural participants in the digital economy.

Discussion Themes

  • Moving from digital access and participation to agency, ownership and enterprise growth.

  • Exploring how transaction histories, payment behaviour and marketplace performance can serve as alternative signals of business credibility.

  • Designing more effective capital and market pathways for women-led businesses.

  • Enabling women entrepreneurs to move from business owners to value-chain participants, employers, exporters and economic decision-makers.

  • Identifying opportunities for partnerships and collaboration to strengthen the ecosystem for women-owned businesses.

The session will feature a moderated conversation followed by networking over high tea, creating space for continued dialogue and relationship-building among funders and institutional partners.
