About Event

Science has always changed the world, but it hasn’t always included everyone who changes science. Who gets to dream up the questions? Who earns the authority to answer them? And how do those choices shape what we call progress?

This special Vedica Vaani brings together two women who have redrawn those boundaries in their own ways:

Dr. Susmita Mohanty, space diplomat and serial entrepreneur, who has built companies across three continents and now leads Spaceport SARABHAI, India’s first space think tank, shaping how nations and industries imagine the future of space.

Dr. Jahnavi Phalkey, historian of science and founding director of Science Gallery Bengaluru, whose work connects laboratories to living rooms, asking not just what science does for society, but what society does with science.

In conversation with Vedica's founder and dean Anuradha Das Mathur, they explore how women in science are not simply participating in discovery, they’re redesigning the architecture of it.

What to Expect:

A riveting dialogue that asks what it means for women to belong, lead, and innovate in STEM — fields that have, for too long, been defined without them.

We guarantee you’ll leave with

  • A new lens on leadership and how women in science lead through empathy, persistence, and design, making their way through fields historically open only to men.

  • Real frameworks for inclusion what it takes to make institutions porous, imaginative, and future-ready.

  • A sense of possibility that knowledge-making isn’t reserved for a few; it can belong to anyone who dares to ask better questions.

  • And perhaps most of all, a reminder that equality begins in imagination and imagination needs space to soar.

If you’ve ever wondered how the future of science could look — or who gets to write it — this is a dialogue you don’t want to miss.

Join us for a memorable conversation & a special curated walkthrough of the Science Gallery!
