Dating Lab NYC presents:
Are Dating Apps Optimizing for the Wrong Outcomes?
An official Venture Week New York event at PubKey
Dating Lab NYC is a monthly interactive discussion series exploring the psychology, culture, and technology shaping modern connection.
Each gathering combines a research-informed presentation, open conversation, an anonymous audience survey, and time to connect with other curious New Yorkers.
This month, we’ll examine how dating-app algorithms define compatibility and whether they are designed to support meaningful relationships or simply keep us engaged.
Presented and facilitated by Becky Berg
Becky is a behavioral researcher with a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Columbia University. She has studied romantic relationships at Columbia’s Couples Lab and NYU’s Love Smarter Lab and now conducts independent research on dating-app users and how technology facilitates modern connection.
Schedule
6:30 PM — Drinks, food, introductions, and anonymous audience survey
7:00 PM — Presentation and interactive discussion
8:00 PM — The Room Report, followed by networking until 8:30 PM
In partnership with Cohort
Cohort is a community of builders, creatives, and founders who show up for one another through genuine accountability, meaningful support, and honest feedback. Its goal is to foster a culture of building and developing ideas in New York City.
