Exclusive Roundtable: Unlocking Egypt's Circular Economy Potential
Unlocking Egypt's Circular Economy Potential: A Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Waste Management Innovation Ecosystems
Sunday, 4 October 2026 | 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM EEST
Techne Summit Alexandria | Stage 10: Roundtable Room
Egypt's green innovation ecosystem has proven models on the ground. What it lacks is the coordinated funding, policy alignment and support infrastructure needed to take them to scale.
This closed-door roundtable, hosted by Misr El Kheir Foundation (MEK) and GESR, convenes funders, policymakers, incubator leaders and ecosystem actors for a focused strategic discussion. The session uses EcoScale, which is being implemented in Qena, Luxor and Asyut, as a case study to examine systemic gaps in the sector and assess where the model can be replicated or co-funded in additional governorates.
Discussion focus
Early lessons from EcoScale's implementation in Upper Egypt
Systemic gaps in Egypt's waste management and green innovation ecosystem
Co-funding and geographic expansion opportunities
Partnership pathways with existing and prospective funders, including the EU, GIZ and EBRD
Expected outcomes
A concise set of ecosystem-level recommendations
A preliminary roadmap for funder engagement
Identified strategic partnerships for future green entrepreneurship initiatives

EcoScale is co-funded by the European Union and German Cooperation, implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of Local Development and Environment and the National Solid Waste Management Programme.
