About Event

Join Databricks on 24 Mar 2026 for hands-on learning of data and AI skills, followed by an afternoon hackathon where you work on real-world challenges.

Databricks engineers will guide you through an intro session covering:

  • An overview of the Databricks platform

  • AI/BI Dashboards, Genie, Unity Catalog, and Lakehouse architecture

  • Hands-on demos and exercises

  • 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM: Check-In

  • 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM: Intro to Databricks Workshop

  • 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM: Lunch and Networking

  • 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM: Hackathon

  • 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM: Winner Announcements

Who should attend?

This event is open to all students. Content is especially relevant for pre-final and final year students studying computer science, engineering, information science, statistics, or data science, but all majors are welcome.

Advance registration is required, please use your university email if available.

Speakers and Mentors

Anuj Lathi. Anuj is a Solutions Engineer at Databricks, helping organizations build scalable data platforms on cloud infrastructure. With deep expertise in Azure, AWS, Apache Spark, and modern data engineering from roles at ZS Associates and Forcepoint, he's 4x Databricks certified and passionate about turning complex data challenges into elegant solutions.

Sunandha Sekar. Sunandha is a Sr. NOC Engineer at Databricks with 2+ years at the company and nearly 10 years in systems engineering and infrastructure operations. A Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate, she specializes in network operations, infrastructure automation, and PowerShell/shell scripting—ensuring reliability and performance across cloud infrastructure.

DD Sharma. DD Sharma is a Data & AI Solutions Architect at Databricks and founding member of Databricks India, with 14+ years of experience and deep expertise in the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. A recognized Databricks Solution Architect Champion, he specializes in Unity Catalog migration, Lakehouse architecture, performance optimization, and helping enterprises scale data and AI solutions across Azure, AWS, and GCP.

Prashant Sharma. Prashant is a Delivery Solutions Architect at Databricks focused on healthcare and life sciences, helping enterprises build scalable lakehouse platforms and GenAI solutions. With 14+ years in data platform architecture and expertise across Spark, Snowflake, and modern cloud data warehouses, he specializes in large-scale migrations and turning complex data challenges into business impact.

1) Arrival timing Check-in opens at 9:15 AM, and we'll begin at 10:00 AM sharp. To keep things fair for everyone, check-in closes at 10:00 AM and we won't be able to admit late arrivals.

2) In-person event This is an in-person-only event. If your plans change or you can't arrive by 10:00 AM, we'd really appreciate you cancelling your spot so someone on the waitlist can join. We do keep track of no-shows to help us plan future community events fairly.
