Bloom Where You Are Planted: An Evening of Hopeful Songs with Daniel James Belnavis
Bloom Where You Are Planted: An Evening of Hopeful Songs is a concert event conceived by singer, writer, and board-certified music therapist, Daniel James Belnavis. The night will consist of songs and stories by Belnavis, a Montclair, NJ native, whose performance credits include Hamilton: An American Musical (Angelica Tour); Dreamgirls (Japanese Tour); and Violet (Boston's SpeakEasy Stage Company).
Hope, as well as resistance, will be the through-line of the evening's music, with Belnavis singing an array of covers of uplifting songs, both popular and lesser known, that speak to the harrowing times we are living through. Belnavis's wish is for Bloom to serve as a container that provides a sense of calm, understanding, respite, and, most importantly, community in the midst of turbulent times.
Bloom will be held in the stunning sanctuary of First Congregational Church of Montclair, an open and affirming church, with a rich history rooted in abolition and inclusion.
Admission for the event is free, however donations are much appreciated! Proceeds will benefit both The FCC Olmsted Garden and the American Friends Service Committee's New Jersey Immigrant Rights Program in Newark.
