​Deep Kalra is the Founder and Chairman of MakeMyTrip, India's largest online travel company. He started MakeMyTrip in the year 2000 - at a time when most Indians were still skeptical of making payments online. Today, MakeMyTrip is among the most successful consumer internet companies to emerge from the country. Before founding MakeMyTrip, Deep worked at ABN Amro and later served as Vice President of Business Development at GE Capital. Outside MakeMyTrip, Deep is one of the founding members of Ashoka University and serves on its governing body. He is also a founding member of I Am Gurgaon, an NGO working on civic and environmental issues in the city.

​In this candid -1 conversation, we'll go deep into his earliest days - before India's internet boom, and before online travel became a way of life. We'll explore what it took to bet on the internet in India at that time, how to build a consumer brand that endures through multiple market cycles, and how conviction compounds when you stay close to the problem long enough.
